Marc and I wrote this when we were students. He remembers it well. We went into a studio and it was the first time I was able to let loose in a vocal booth. I remember screaming the final bit of the chorus and watching the reaction in the booth. I had never done that before, being too self conscious at the Student Union Open Mic night on a Monday where the highlight was a beautiful drunken Irishman singing Wicked Game and Creep as the room got collectively moist.
Mr Narcissist could be about me or it could be about a fictional love rival. It's one of the great questions of our time.
